Metabolomics: analysis of secondary metabolites

Description

The Metabolomics service: analysis of secondary metabolites, provides its services for the extraction and metabolomic analysis of botanical/fungal extracts, volatile and non-volatile.

The service has 2 scientists and 2 specialist technicians, with extensive experience, both in the extraction and obtaining of extracts, as well as in the analysis and interpretation of the results obtained from the metabolomic analysis of the extracts.

Benefits for extraction and obtaining extracts

  • Soxhlet extraction using different sizes of Soxhlet bodies, depending on the quantity of source samples.
  • Essential oil extraction by Clevenger.
  • Organic extraction of aqueous samples, using different sizes of settling funnels, depending on the volume of the original sample.

Benefits for metabolomic analysis

  • Metabolomic analysis of non-volatile extracts, using Liquid Chromatography coupled with mass spectrometry (HPLC-MS), performing both qualitative analysis of secondary metabolites and quantitative analysis with the desired product to be valued.
  • Metabolomic analysis of volatile extracts, using Gas Chromatography coupled with mass spectrometry (GC-MS), performing both qualitative analysis of secondary metabolites and quantitative analysis with the desired product to be valued.
